THE REGION

The region has a population of 64,092 and takes in the local authorities of Gladstone City, and the Shires of Calliope, Banana, and Miriam Vale covering a total of 26,289 square kms. Gladstone is 550 kms north of the state’s capital Brisbane and 40 kilometers south of the Tropic of Capricorn.

The Gladstone Region is a unique area, where both tourism and major industry interact. Gladstone is a major processing centre for the resource-rich region and according to locals still has the charm of a coastal resort setting with an enviable lifestyle. Gladstone frequently wins the ‘Tidy Towns’ award due to the city’s extensive infrastructure and the aesthetics of citizens.
